According to the latest statistics, about 16 million people in the United States suffers from depression annually. It’s a disorder that rapper David Lopez is all too familiar with. In fact, it’s the inspiration for his latest single titled “For You” featuring Sha-Kray.
“It’s a very serious song. It’s about my father and his battle with depression,” stated Lopez. “In the track, I rap, ‘Pop, you gotta know. We’re all here for you. Look how far you’ve come.’”
Lopez recorded the single while in Los Angeles working on the music video for his last single titled “Lonely Days.” Since that song’s release, it’s racked up more than 53,000 views on YouTube and growing. He expects his newest single to do just as well—if not better.
“The song was produced by Clayton William. He’s got a couple of big singles out right now,” stated Lopez. “We’ve gotten a lot of good feedback from it. We already shot a music video to it. We plan to release that very soon.”
Lopez describes his newly released album, “Preacher’s Son” as soulful. The songs on the project are meant to inspire and offer words of encouragement to listeners who are dealing with their own struggles in life.
“Most people get confused when they see the title of the album because the song is about my dad. However, my mom is the preacher in the family,” explained Lopez. “The album has a churchy feel to it. When people listen to it, I want them to know that they can do anything if they really want to do it. The album is full of real life messages about living your life to the fullest. Of course, I have a few songs on there about love and heartbreak.”
With 15 upbeat tracks, fans can purchase the album on iTunes, Spotify and Amazon. To learn more about David Lopez, visit: www.thedavidlopez.com.
